Inciting Rural-Urban interactions to cope with climate change: An Adaptation Experiment in Aba and its region, South -Eastern Nigeria.
The IDRC-CCAA project is follow-up to
anearlier study implemented
by NEST with funding from International Institute for Environment and
Development (IIED) titled “Rural Urban Interactions and livelihood
strategies-the case of Aba and its region, southeastern Nigeria” by Okali et
al, 2001-2003.
Objectives of the Project
The main objective of the project
is to contribute to the reduction of vulnerability of rural-urban systems to
climate change by sharing knowledge generated through a participatory
adaptation experiment.
Methodology
The two approaches that will be adopted are (i) research and
(ii) application of the findings from the research for social change in the
process of rural-urban interdependence.
Expected output
Some of the
outcomes expected include:-
-Report of the situation analysis (including
visioning, analysis of vulnerability and coping capacity, institutional
analysis)
-Report of the participatory action research-
processes and analysis of different options considered.
-Report of the results of the experiment process.
-Dissemination of accurate information, education
and communication materials
Expected outcome
The
outcomes are expected to come in three stages-Immediate, intermediate and final
outcomes.
